Air Strikes At Discreet LTTE Gathering PPoint

SLAF fighter jets made precision sorties at a discreet LTTE gathering point this morning (April 2) located West of Visuamadu Kulam in Mullaittiuvu district.

According to Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Andrew Wijesooriya, the location was frequented by senior LTTE cadres. The target was accurately engaged and damages caused to LTTE were no known at the moment, he further said.

Wanni Operation

Undeterred by adverse weather affecting the Wanni battlefront, SLA continued surge into LTTE territory as military reports claimed 18 terrorists killed during confrontations yesterday (March 31).

According to Mannar defence sources, 2 terrorists were killed sniped in general areas at Tirikeshwaran and Parayankulama by SLA on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, troops have captured 2 LTTE bunker defences in general area Adampan, sources said. In a separate confrontation between SLA and LTTE in general area Tirikeshwaran, ground troops reported to have killed at least 4 terrorists, while intercepted enemy communication revealed 2 LTTE killed, defence sources further said. Meanwhile, troops have also recovered 20 AP mines during subsequent search operations conducted in Tirikeshwaran area, between 12.25 and 4.p.m., yesterday military sources said.

According to reports received, troops have captured an LTTE bunker and 5 safe houses while advancing in general area Parayakulama.

It was also reported that a soldier has received injuries during a confrontation with LTTE in general area Parappakandal, at around 9.40 a.m.

LTTE launched heavy artillery shells Murunkan hospital

Tension prevailed in Murunkan area, Mannar as LTTE launched heavy artillery shells were reported to have damaged the Murunkan government hospital today (April 01) at around 6.10 a.m.

According to available reports, a hospital building was partially damaged during the indiscriminate LTTE shell attack.Details of damages caused to civilian and properties are yet to be estimated.

It was reported that the sudden shell attack by LTTE from the un-cleared area fell, mounting tension and fear among the folks. According to defence sources in the area the explosions had caused panic and trauma among patient and civilians who were immediately evacuated by troops into safer shelters. Meanwhile, few shells have also fallen in proximity of the Murunkan government school, sources further reported.

Military sources said that the LTTE attack was launched as to create a shadow of uncertainty among the civilians and expel them from their traditional settlements.

SLAF raids LTTE 'runway'

SLAF fighter jets made two air sorties today (March 31) at 9.45a.m., and 10.30a.m, respectively at an LTTE 'runway' located 10km West of Mullaittivu town.According to Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Andrew Wijesooriya, pilots confirmed to have taken the target successfully.

A suspect who was kept at the Mount Lavinia police cell has committed suicide by taking poison last night. He has died on admission to Kalubowila hospital.

Sea Tiger base bombed

Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets launched an air attack at LTTE Sea tiger base located in Mullaithivu district this afternoon, March 30.The targeted sea tiger base was located at Chilawaththa in Alampil and air sorties carried out around 12.40 p.m. today, Air Force sources said.The pilots confirmed that target was hit accurately.
